Short but sweet. I liked this quick read about step siblings who finally admit their love for each other and over come the differences in their personalities to discover that even though they have different methods of getting there-- they both really do want the same things.

Some hot sex scenes with a happy ending. What else do you need? Oh yeah! A rich, good looking step brother to sweep you off your feet!

too much telling not enough showing

It had a potential to be good but IMO it wasn't. The hero and heroine were interesting. Tanner was a different type of hero. He had no desire to be rich nor having a 9-5 office job. He was an outdoor kind of guy who did not care about material possessions. By contrast Maggie was the opposite. Due to her reaction to her upbringing, in order to feel secure she needed money. She was focused on doing well in school so when she graduated she could get a good job. I liked that Tanner was not a manhoe. While not a virgin he did not sleep around. He spent a lot of his time alone in the wilderness. Maggie was a virgin due to her lack of interest in other men because of her feelings for Tanner.

Unfortunately Maggie and Tanner's relationship was more of an outline than a story, as were their characters. I know that it is harder to do in shorter books but it can be done and it wasn't here. The book was a lot of telling than showing. They both supposedly loved each other forever but I did not feel it. They needed to spent more time together than they did. Too much of the book was spent either with them fighting or ignoring each
other or physically separated. They did not get together until the very end of the book. By that time it is too late for me to care if they got together. I had lost interest.

Also the book was a HFN as opposed to a HEA. Because most of the book they were not a couple and had a contentious relationship, to make it believable that they end up staying together HEA ending with an epilogue in years in the future would be better.

I like this story, but I was sad that there relationship hasn't progressed as far I hope it, I guess if it was meant to be it will be.

About the Author
Vanessa Grant's love affair with writing fiction began during a protracted illness at the age of 12 when she decided to write a novel of her own, sitting up in bed using the typewriter she'd been given for her birthday. Not a computer, not an electric typewriter, but a then-state-of-the-art manual typewriter. The story, a romance, ground to a halt on page 50 but Vanessa never forgot the excitement of bringing her own characters to life. She later wrote three unpublished novels, developing her skills as a writer while living on a remote lighthouse during what she thinks of as her baby-making, basket weaving, beach-walking days.
     In 1985 Vanessa's novel Pacific Disturbance was published in hardcover by Mills and Boon. She now has over 10 million books sold and has been translated into 15 languages. She also has written what one critic described as, "by far the best writing book I've ever read." Writing Romance, published by Self Counsel Press, won the Under the Covers Best Writing Book Award, and is currently in its third edition.
     Over the years her love of storytelling and her curiosity about people led Vanessa to study psychology, volunteer on a crisis line, complete individual and relationship counselor training, volunteer as a peer counselor for a family life organization, and tell stories about life, love, and secrets. Vanessa is also an accountant, a university professor, a publisher of educational materials and eBooks, and a popular international speaker with considerable media experience.
     Vanessa and her husband have lived on an island in the Pacific Northwest since they returned from a two year sailing cruise to Mexico some years ago. Vanessa loves hearing from readers.

a great read, interesting characters and a true to life story

I remember this book from the paperback {and how many books of romantic fiction can you say that about], and like all Vanessa Grant's characters I feel I know them. I care abut them, they interest me as people and I have met people like this and liked them and I want their lives to work out. Romantic fiction is based on fantasy but there must be reality to anchor it to life and make it strike a chord with the reader, this has the fantasy and reality in the perfect combination and makes a book I will read again [and again].

I'm a throw-back myself. I looooove alpha men who want to take care of their ladies. However, I'm also a modern woman who believes I should be able to choose my path based on what fulfills me. This book was great because I was able to identify with both of the main characters. Excellent storyline and character development--I couldn't help genuinely liking everyone in the book! I'm a big fan of Vanessa Grant and will continue to buy her books.

Pathfinder Hit This One Out of the Ballpark

Okay, I gotta admit up-front: I am one of those guys who loves new NPCs, poring over stat-blocks (often double-checking the math in my head) and appreciating particuarly well-written backgrounds. The more developed and coherent NPCs, the better! That being said, this product actually exceeds the hopes I had for it.

The "Rival Guide" presents 10 parties of NPCs--some fairly predictable, some quite unusual (check out the Dust Coven and the Marrow Reavers, for instance), some good, and some evil (some deranged on top of being evil!). The NPC parties in this product are intelligently designed, many with quite memorable flaws, well-written, and range all the way up the spectrum in terms of power (yes, there is a party of four evil 20th-lvl NPCs to challenge your PCs who have just finished one of Pathfinder's campaign arcs and who think there is little out there to challenge them anymore). I think the product is not only an excellent product for game-play, but also inspiring (in terms of NPC design and illustration) and it is good reading, to boot.

As far as "crunch," we're looking at a surprising and welcome amount: 8 new spells, 10 new magic items, 7 new feats, a new template (possibly 2--I'm frankly not sure what to call the rules for "vampiric animal companions"), 2 variant racial traits, rules for alchemical afflictions, 1 new alchemical item, 4 new poisons, and 4 new drugs.

About the Author

Michael J. Anthony (Ph.D. Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Ph.D. Claremont Graduate School) is currently serving as the president of Hume Ministries located in California. In addition, he is research professor of Christian Education at Biola University/Talbot School of Theology where he served for 27 years. He has been the president of the North American Professors of Christian Education on three occasions.

Dr. Michelle Anthony is family ministry ambassador at Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa, CA., and family ministry architect for David C. Cook. She earned her B.A. from Biola University in Christian Education and her M.A. in Christian Education with an emphasis in Theology from Talbot Theological Seminary. She also earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Southern Seminary. She has written over a dozen resources in Children's/Youth ministries and Christian education and enjoys teaching, speaking, and serving in missions abroad.

About the Author
Muhammad Mojlum Khan was born in 1973 in Habigong, Bangladesh and was brought up and educated in England. He is a literary critic, prolific writer and a researcher in Islamic thought and history. He has published over 100 essays and articles on Islam, comparative religion, contemporary thought and current affairs, and has been a regular contributor to The Muslim News.

People exist in time and place

Not only does this book include a wide spectrum of personalities throughtout Muslim history, but each person's biography includes what was going on in his/her world. This is the best collection of Muslim biographies that I've seen. Well written, interesting information and set into time and place.
