More than I expected

I haven't finished this, but I already am surprised at how very good it is. It is an entirely new (to me) approach to reading the four gospels based on Ezekiel's vision of the "living creatures" (Ezek. 1:10), which had the faces of a man, a lion,an ox, and an eagle. The idea is that each gospel emphasizes different points by leaving out some info that is contained in another gospel, all the better to make the point. Reading chronologically is of much benefit, I believe, and I think most people would agree. But this writer shows that there is also a benefit in reading something in one gospel and meditating on what you have read without considering the additional details from another gospel, in order to get the main point God is giving us. Here is the explanation in the author's own words: "It is for this reason that a Harmony of the Gospels, though it is interesting and has its use, leads us from the special purpose for which the Gospels were written as they are. For by arranging everything chronologically many passages lose the force which they possess as portions of a distinct series." I'm reading this in small portions and may well encounter things I don't agree with (unavoidable for anyone who does his or her own thinking, since none of us knows everything and none of us is always correct), but just what I have read so far makes me look forward to the rest.
